Brescia - Wednesday, June 3, is a date that will enter the history of Italian railways. For the first time, a regular train has entered the new AV/AC Brescia-Verona line, to perform the first test runs. It is an ETR.521 of Trenitalia in the new Regional livery, which has traveled the new line on the south track with autonomous means. The new route runs mainly in conjunction with existing infrastructure, with about 30 kilometers parallel to the A4 highway and about 8 kilometers next to the conventional Milan-Venice railway line. The work crosses Lombardy and Veneto, affecting a total of 11 municipalities. The line is designed for a maximum speed of 250 km/h, powered by 3 kV DC and ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 signaling. Among the main works carried out are 4 viaducts, 4 natural galleries, 17 artificial galleries and numerous overpasses and underpasses, in a project also funded through PNRR resources.
